This guide explains why Dubai became the place Africa buys its used cars from, what changed in the 2026 import rules, and how dealers can win more of these sales without taking on extra risk.

Buyers want cars that are cheap to run, easy to fix and simple to resell. In practice that means:
Petrol engines under 2.0 litres avoid Nigeria's new Green Tax, which makes smaller cars easier to sell there. Clean history matters more than ever: with Ghana banning salvage and flood cars, a clear accident history and service record is now a selling point.
MotorCar connects UAE dealers with car buyers in the UAE and abroad. Overseas buyers from Nigeria, Ghana and other countries send requests through our export cars from Dubai page, with country guides for Nigeria and Ghana. Our team screens each request and forwards it to dealers who list matching cars.
Until 31 December 2026, dealers can join as a Founding Member for AED 199 per year: up to 99 car listings for a year, 3 featured listings with top placement and a Premium Seller badge.
